The bus tour to Boonesfield Village in Defiance, Missouri was a pleasant trip, an informative experience and a fun time of fellowship. We got an in depth review of the moving of the Sappington-Dressel house from South County to Defiance and we learned a lot about the history of the house and the families that lived there, especially the Dressels, since Roy Dressel was present on the tour to tell us about it. Other Dressels were there also. There is a full report on the tour in the Spring 2011 Newsletter. Members of the Society receive the informative newsletter four times a year for the affordable price of $10 per year. See Joining

Society Funding Spring General Meeting
The Spring general meeting of the Sappington-Concord Historical Society was held Wednesday, April 27, 2011. After a brief meeting and refreshments, a panel spoke on the Civil War in St. Louis, which of course is of special interest to St. Louisans, especially during this 150th year since the conflict began.
Also of note, April 27 was General Grant’s birthday! What an appropriate coincidence! We had a birthday cake and sang happy birthday.
