Concord School Bell
Have you seen the construction progress on the old Concord School building? The former Early Childhood Center is being remodeled and expanded with additional classroom space and new gymnasium and will reopen as an elementary school. It will be Concord School again!
The Early Childhood Center has opened in a new building on the Lindbergh High School campus and was dedicated in February.
As the Concord School building is being remodeled, construction workers are finding many old building styles as they work through the building. And there are many types of construction materials behind its old walls. Another old item is the bell in the bell tower, long encased behind a solid copper covering. or copula. Now it is time for the construction workers to try to lower the bell out of the narrow tower so that it can be displayed in the lobby. That is the plan, we just need to see if the bell can be lowered out of its narrow tower. Maybe it will be on display by the time of open house in August for the newly reopened Concord School. Local history in the making!
