SCHS Membership Fees and Funding
Dues and Society Funding
Society membership dues were should have been sent in January, $10 per year for individual members and $15 for couples. These rates make membership in the Sappington-Concord Historical Society very affordable. The Society appreciates its members, because the members are the whole reason for the existence of the Society. The Society programs are for the members, the archives are for the members, the history we preserve is for the members. Membership fees paid into the SCHS are used largely for servicing member needs, printing, postage, supplies for programs and activities. Society membership fees keep the Society operating and in business.
The Society has two other sources of funding; sales of books, Sappington-Concord: A History (sold out) and Hometown Heroes (still available). The other source of funding is gifts from members, some of which are noted in this Newsletter. The Society is very appreciative of these special contributions.
As for expanding Society activities or doing special projects, membership fees do not go far. The Society does have savings, but they are not enough to perhaps purchase and maintain a building or take on other large projects.
Thank you very much for your membership. If you would like to make a special gift, please contact us through the web site or see a board member. If you still need to pay your dues for 2011, please use the convenient membership form on the web site or in your copy of the Newsletter.
If you have friends, neighbors or family who might enjoy Society programs, please bring them to a meeting and ask them to join us. We will make history together!
