About Website

It would be hoped that the Show-Me Hero Salute website is self explanatory, but if you want to know something more about it, see the description below. The aim of the Show-Me Hero Salute project is to honor, respect and remember those who gave their all fighting for our freedom in the Vietnam War. The aim is not to overwhelm with words and web pages. On the other hand, it is hoped that information about the event can be easily found on this site, and that the explanations are clear. Holding an event means organization and publicity. It is the aim of this website to provide those things.

The Show-Me Hero Salute website was designed by the students in the Graphic Design IV class at St. Louis Community College-Meramec in the Graphic Communications program. See more about the Graphic Design IV class, “The Design Team.” See a description by Professor Groth of his class’s involvement with Show-Me Hero Salute.

The students chose to use WordPress.com as the platform, because it is capable, flexible and easily accessible by multiple authors and editors. They chose a “theme” appropriate to the needs of Show-Me Hero Salute, called Grisaille (pronounced “griz-eye”). For graphics, they used the Show-Me Hero Salute logo placed together with photos of the AVTT Traveling Wall in a rotating push display which appears on every page of the website. The photos suggest the nature of our event and leave plenty of room on the page for informational text.

The intent of the website is to be a “one stop shop” for all information about the Show-Me Hero Salute project to bring the AVTT Traveling Wall to St. Louis and the wall display is to honor, respect and remember the soldiers in the Vietnam War that gave their all for our freedom and to show our appreciation for Vietnam veterans.

And it is the intent of this website to represent the project to the community, and to publicize the event to the St. Louis community and surrounding region.

The website is overseen by the Show-Me Hero Salute Communications Committee which also  oversees publicity materials and other printed matter. Co-Chair Frank Hardy handles the printed materials and Co-Chair Stephen Hanpeter handles the website, its content and organization.  For comments or questions about the website, contact Stephen at info@Show-MeHeroSalute.org.

Thank you for visiting the website and please visit the AVTT Traveling Wall June 12-16. If you can contribute “treasure or talent,” it is much appreciated to support this important event. See the Contribute section of this site and the Volunteer section. Thank you again!
