Day seven of the dig at Sappington House
Bullet shells (not shotgun)
Foundation clearly found in place, not just pieces of limestone
Identifying soil type and color at unit three
Mapping site at unit three
Work at unit one, including the surprise find of foundation
The archaeological dig at Sappington House is going into its eighth day today with two more to go. On day seven, a major find was made, an unexpected one, the foundation to a building. The artifacts found so far seem to show it might be a summer kitchen.
