Fundraising cocktail party, recreating the 1808 bridal party of the Sappingtons, at The Barn restaurant, hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails and live music from the Booneslick Strings. 50th Anniversary of the 
Sappington House Restoration
September 24, 2016 Saturday 9 am~3 pm
Gather with us to celebrate the oldest brick home in St. Louis County and our part in the restoration of Crestwood’s historic treasure. See a re-enactment of Thomas and Mary Ann Kinkead Sappington’s wedding ceremony. Wedding cake for all guests! Mystery mural will be revealed and a coupons given to children under 12 for soon-to-be-released coloring book featuring daughter Lucinda Sappington. Musicians strolling the grounds. Sappington family’s gigantic quilt on display. Sons of the American Revolution will close our day at the Sappington family cemetery on Watson Road. FREE Community Event! Also for the third year, in the partnership with the Smithsonian Magazine, Sappington House will offer complimentary tours. Spirits of Sappington House Tour

Hear from costumed ghosts from the Sappington House’s past ~ General George Washington’s bodyguard John Sappington; First mistress of the house Mary Ann Kinkead Sappington; discoverer of quinine to treat malaria, Dr. John Sappington; Rescuer “Jeff” Thomas Jefferson Sappington, who thwarted an assassination attempt on General Ulysses S. Grant; and African-American entrepreneur Madame C. J. Walker. Bonfires on site with hot cider, s’mores and appearance by the macabre 18th century surgeon, John Murphy.
