The Marine Corps League Color Guard participates every year in the SCHS Memorial Day ceremony. The following is some information by Michael Lee of the Color Guard.

Featured is the Color Guard from the Marine Corps League, South St. Louis Detachment #183, whose mission is to effectively promote the ideals of American freedom and democracy, voluntarily aid and render assistance to all Marines, FMF Corpsmen and former Marines and FMF Corpsmen and to their widows and orphans; and to perpetuate the history of the United States Marine Corps and by fitting acts to observe the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.

Providing the Color Guard is only one of the ways these men continue to serve.  Honor Guard Teams participate on an average of seven funerals each week at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.  Former Marines as well as members of the other Armed Services are laid to rest with military honors, including a three-man firing team, the playing of Taps and the presentation of the American Flag. Contact Sgt. Hal Holmes to arrange future Marine Corps League Color Guard for your upcoming events.  http://mcl183.com

Any and all services of the South St. Louis Detachment are rendered free of charge.  Any donations received are used to aid Marines and their families.
