The World War II Honor Roll monument at the center of the Memorial Day ceremony on the green at St Lucas is made of wood. It will be the third “generation” of the monument. The original monument dedicated in August of 1944 was made of wood. When it fell into disrepair it was eventually removed to Sappington School where it was inadvertently destroyed during renovations of the school. The Sappington-Concord Historical Society decided to restore the Honor Roll and to make it out of a more long lasting material, Missouri red granite. It was dedicated on May 29, 1995. The newest version of the Honor Roll is erected on the green at St Lucas for the annual SCHS Memorial Day ceremony. It is made of wood with a photographic image of the red granite monument adhered to it with a weather proof covering over the surface. The World War II Honor Roll started as wood and has returned to wood.

The red granite Honor Roll remains in Sappington-Concord Memorial Park at the center of the Sappington-Concord community. It will be there every day, all day, 365 days a year to remind us of the sacrifices of those who served the USA to protect our freedoms.
