The Sappington House is hosting some unique events in December, so we thought you might like to know about them to share with those like-minded historically. There are three VERY special events which you particularly might be interested in ~ Give and Glow (with luminaries, we light up 1-1/2 miles of Grant’s Trail in honor of our military) on December 6th, Silhouette Portraits Dec. 12 and a Day Trip to Apple Creek Churches Dec.18. Whether it’s the first time or not, we look forward to welcoming you to our historic and naturally beautiful complex!
Historic Thomas Sappington House Complex

December 3 Thursday 5~7 pm and December 5 Saturday 4~6 pm
Visit the Thomas Sappington House by candlelight, accompanied by the sounds of dulcimer Christmas music. The home will be decked in 1800’s décor, with an exhibit of antique and vintage toys; $5 adult, $1 child
Christmas Story Time, Santa, Silhouettes
December 5 Saturday 10~11 am and December 12 Saturday 10 am ~12 noon – Story Time
Children ages 3 to 12 are invited for an old-fashioned story time at the Library of Americana; all those attending receive a small gift; $5 per child; Registration required ~ call 314~822~8171 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
December 5 Saturday 12:00 noon – Christmas Story Time
After story time, children may proceed to Crestwood Government Center to sit on Santa Claus’ knee.
December 12 Saturday 10~11 am during Christmas Story Time, parents will have the opportunity for an artist to create silhouettes of their children in time for holiday gift-giving. Fee; $15 for one child, $25 for two children.
Nite of Lights – Give and Glow
December 6 Sunday 5~8 pm More information: 3rd Annual Nite of Lights ~ Give and Glow
See 620 Combat Support Battalion, Crestwood fire truck, bonfires; enjoy caroling, hot cocoa and cider. Walk along Grant’s Trail from Big Bend to Watson lit with luminaries supporting our military through the efforts of USA Cares. Parking available on school lot across the street. Donate $5 to honor your service person with a luminary or $25 for a special lighted balloon. Contact www.giveandglow.info or 314~484~1094 by December 1st Tuesday.
Day Trip to Quaint Christmas Churches
December 18, Friday, 11 am, day trip by motorcoach to quaint Christmas churches
Through the woods to Apple Creek churches we go! By motorcoach, we will travel to country churches decorated for the joyous season. Join us as we are inspired by the Christmas spirit through simple, rustic beauty. Enjoy a home-style meal, visit a unique museum and shop for hand-made crafts and food. Trip weather permitting. Departure from Crestwood Government Center at 11 a.m.
Cost $45; reservations required, deadline, Tuesday, December 15.
